Chase DeLauter of the Broadway Bruins joins Matthew Atkins for a special Friday episode of the podcast. DeLauter was a Freshman All-American in 2020 at James Madison University, and played with the Broadway Bruins in the RCBL during the summer of 2020.
DeLauter led the RCBL in batting average (.545), home runs (13) and RBIs (39), among many other categories. He was named league MVP and Rookie of the Year, and has played an integral part in leading the Bruins to their first pennant since 1931. We talk about DeLauter's first season at JMU, his experience with the RCBL this summer and what it was like getting to play at his collegiate home ballpark throughout the RCBL season.
Padres star Fernando Tatis, Jr. has come under fire this week for swinging at a 3-0 pitch with the bases loaded and the Padres already up seven runs against the Rangers. As you probably already know by now, Tatis hit a grand slam, earning criticism from not only the Rangers' manager, but his own coach as well.
Tune in to the latest episode of Foul Ball Area as we discuss Tatis' hot start to the season, and why it's okay - even encouraged - to swing at a 3-0 pitch with a big lead. Plus, we take a look back at this day in baseball history, talk about the Yankees' injuries, and take a look around the league to see how each team is doing as we pass the 20-game mark. Finally, we discuss what would happen in the world if the Orioles and Marlins both made the postseason, which is very possible this year.
We're back at it this week with another great episode of Foul Ball Area! Trey Lyle and Matthew Atkins talk about Aaron Judge and Fernando Tatis, Jr.'s dominant seasons so far. Plus, this week brings us a two-game series between our favorite teams, the Yankees and the Braves.
We also discuss whether or not the trade deadline will bring any excitement this season. Stay tuned to the end to hear our discussion on which player is the face of Major League Baseball. You might think it's obvious, but not everyone agrees. Tune in for all that and more this week!
